Cookies Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your device through web pages. They are tools that play an essential role in providing numerous services within the information society. Among other purposes, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user’s or device’s browsing habits and, depending on the information obtained, can be used to recognize the user and improve the service offered.
Types of cookies
According to the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, two types can be distinguished:
- Own cookies: Those sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain managed by the website editor and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
- Third-party cookies: Those sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.
If cookies are installed from a computer or domain managed by the website editor but the information collected is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered own cookies.
There is also a second classification based on the amount of time they remain stored in the client’s browser:
- Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are typically used to store information needed only for the provision of the service on a single occasion (e.g., a list of purchased products).
- Persistent cookies: Data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie controller, which may range from a few minutes to several years.
Finally, there is another classification with five types of cookies depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed:
- Technical cookies: Allow the user to browse a website, platform, or application and use different existing options or services, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying sessions, accessing restricted areas, remembering items in an order, completing purchase processes, registering for events, using security features during browsing, storing content for video or audio distribution, or sharing content through social networks.
- Personalization cookies: Enable the user to access the service with predefined general characteristics based on criteria on the user’s device, such as language, browser type, or regional configuration.
- Analytics cookies: Allow the party responsible for them to track and analyze user behavior on websites to which they are linked. Information collected through these cookies is used to measure website, application, or platform activity and create browsing profiles in order to introduce improvements based on usage analysis.
- Advertising cookies: Allow the management of advertising spaces as efficiently as possible.
- Behavioral advertising cookies: Store information on user behavior obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, enabling the creation of a specific profile to display advertising based on it.
- External social media cookies: Used to allow visitors to interact with content across various social platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). These are generated only for users of those social networks. The conditions for their use and the information collected are governed by the privacy policy of the corresponding platform.
